There is a question the great Persian poet Hafiz asks that stops me every time:

“Do you know how beautiful you are?”

Not beautiful in the way the world measures beauty.
Not beauty tied to youth, perfection, performance, or approval.

He is speaking of something deeper.

He is asking if you recognize the beauty of your soul.

The beauty of your courage.
The beauty of your tenderness after heartbreak.
The beauty of your becoming.

Especially for those of us in the second half of life, this question matters.

So many people reach a certain age and begin to feel invisible. They measure themselves against who they used to be—how they looked, what they accomplished, what roles they played. They grieve what has changed and forget to honor what has been gained.

But reinvention begins here:

When we stop asking, “Am I still enough?”
and begin asking, “Can I finally see myself clearly?”

Because true beauty is not surface.

It is presence.

It is wisdom earned through loss.
It is softness that survived disappointment.
It is boundaries that came from finally choosing self-respect.
It is grace after grief.
It is peace after years of inner war.

That is beauty.

Hafiz reminds us that the divine is not somewhere outside of us, waiting to be earned. It is already here. Already within.

The sacred is in your laugh lines.
In your resilience.
In your willingness to begin again.

In the way you still choose love after loss.

In the way you keep showing up for your life.

That is holy.

That is beautiful.

And perhaps the greatest work of reinvention is not becoming someone new—

but remembering who you have always been.

So today, I leave you with Hafiz’s question:

Do you know how beautiful you are?

Not someday.
Not when you lose the weight.
Not when life feels easier.
Not when someone else confirms it.

Now.

Right here.

Exactly as you are.

Because the privilege of a lifetime is not perfection.

It is becoming who you truly are.

And that, dear one, is beautiful.
