On the Mat, In Community: Yoga, Friendship, and Alignment
This photo makes me smile. That’s one of my dearest friends, Liz, and me — caught in a moment of laughter and connection. And it all began on the mat at Lila Studio.
That’s what I love about yoga. Yes, it’s about movement, breath, grounding, and honoring this body — our temple, the sacred vessel that carries us through life. But it’s also about something more: connection.
At Lila, the energy is palpable. You’re greeted with warmth — a Buddha, a waterfall, always a teapot ready. And in the studio, there’s Chanda’s healing energy, her gentle guidance, and a community of people showing up not to perform, but to be.
Yoga has been my anchor — a way to realign when life feels chaotic, to remember gratitude when I’m tempted to forget, and to breathe myself back into presence. And in the process, it’s given me friendships like this one — soul-level connections that remind me I’m not alone.
What I’ve learned is this:
- Alignment isn’t just physical. It’s also about aligning with our values, our joy, and our truth.
- Community matters. We need spaces where we can show up as we are — sweaty, tired, laughing, crying — and be met with acceptance.
- Friendship is sacred. The people we meet along the way often become the greatest gifts of the journey.
So today I honor yoga, community, friendship, reinvention, and joy. I honor the body and the breath that brings me back home.
And I honor this truth: We don’t walk this path alone.
